A Fresh Start is a pivotal painting in Samuel’s career. This painting, completed in January, 2021, represents Samuel’s fresh start using a minimal colour palette and a calm composition.

This imagined scene is reminiscent of a gloomy grey British sky over a hedgerow or tree canopy. Although this scene could invoke feelings of cold and isolation for some, for Samuel an overcast sky and light rain in the countryside where he is from brims with opportunity and excitement.

Samuel has used cracking clay medium, acrylic paints and white spray paint to create this painting which is fixed within a white painted frame.
