6 Things To Do Before You Go To An Art Fair
Art Fairs are great places to start or add to your art collection. With an established Art Fair you will be able to take advantage of seeing the artwork ‘in the flesh’ and to talk to the exhibiting artists about their work.
To help you make the most of your Art Fair visit, we have put together 6 things to do before you go…
1) Be Prepared:
Make a ‘shopping list’ of what you will be looking for. Take images of your room and measure the wall space to show the artist or gallery, they can advise you on the perfect artwork for your space.
2) Visit Your Favourite Gallery’s Stand:
You may have bought from this artist or gallery before. Add to your collection from them, or just drop by for a chat - we appreciate your continued support for us and our artists!
3) Be Methodical:
At the Art Fair, start from the first isle on the left hand side (or right hand side) and go up and down each isle in turn, don’t dot around. Better still , do what I do, start at Isle A or 1 and continue alphabetically or numerically. …that way you won’t miss anything!
4). Use Your Phone:
When an artwork catches your eye, take images of the artwork, the artwork label and the artist/gallery name. Even record a message to yourself describing what you like about the artwork! This will remind you as you go around the Art Fair and then help you to make a short list of potential artworks to buy - and don’t forget to use any QR codes!
5). Ditch The Overwhelm:
Take a break from looking at the artwork every hour or so. Stop for a coffee or a glass of fizz and give your eyes a rest, focus on something different - this way you don’t become ‘arted’ out.
6). Go With Your Instincts:
If you fall in love with an artwork - buy it! Don’t get cold feet and try to talk yourself out of it! There will be something in that artwork that you can’t leave behind. Can’t make up your mind? Don’t take too long deciding, you won’t want to be disappointed. Remember, with original artwork - When It’s Gone It’s Gone!
