Jessica Ward - Encased Branches

Jessica Ward - Encased Branches

2015, Found branches, thread, various woods, enamel paint and polypro. 30.5x20cm

A collection of dancing and intertwined branches encased within an elegant and slim glass bell jar.

The sense of encasement continues with the branches themselves as they are dipped in multiple layers of plaster, high gloss enamel paint and ink.

The enamel and ink react with the plaster creating subtle shifts in texture and run along the contours of the branches as they dry.

The piece is full of energy and is highly reactive to light – casting beautiful shadows, lending it to be seen from multiple angles.
